The former Tangier's restaurant and nightclub at 116 1st Avenue N will have a breathe of new life come the end of January when the Hennepin Steam Room opens in it's place.
Upscale dining and live music will fill the new space. Ben Taheri, the operating manager for the Hennepin Steam Room, states that the inspiration for the name of the new restaurant comes from the buildings long history of being a steam-laundry establishment.
Cosmetic improvements will be made to the interior space including a new stage and a bigger kitchen. The cuisine served will be of an American Fusion style featuring gourmet sandwiches, red meat and fish, and a multitude of bar snacks and appetizers. A full bar menu with a number of craft cocktails will also be available.
The new take on the space will be less like a nightclub and more like a lounge. A continuous rotation of relaxing music, such as jazz and salsa, will be found within the space.
Hennepin Steam Room is expected to open at the end of February.
